Dear Friends in Scouting,

The European Scout Committee is pleased to share the Record of Decisions of its fifth Business Meeting, which took place in Napoli, Italy, from 8-10 March 2024.

During this meeting, an important focus was dedicated to the achievements, needs and priorities of NSOs and NSAs. Building on the Reach Out report conducted by the WSB Europe Support Centre from October to December 2023, the Committee has the opportunity to dig deeper into their understanding of the current realities of our respective members and their involvement in the different regional project activities. This was also the occasion to receive an update on the NSOs that recently joined the Region and review the progress of the development of Scouting in Albania. If you wish to learn more about the yearly Reach Out, please contact the Regional Director, Abir Koubaa, via [email protected]

This meeting was also the opportunity to continue reviewing the progress and achievements of the Operational Framework set up to deliver against the objectives of the 2022-2025 Regional Scout Plan. We connected with the appointed Coordinators of our three Areas of Operations: Monika Woźnica (Education), Máire Fitzgerald (Innovation) and Allan Simpson (Organisation), as well as the Leads of the Team reporting directly to the European Scout Committee.

During our meeting, we also:
  • Continued to monitor the completion rate of the Safe from Harm reporting requirements and self-assement. As of this month, 30% have undertaken the Safe from Harm self-assessment. We encourage all Member Organizations to proceed with this first step, which will enable the Region to identify the needed support and required follow-up.
  • Followed up on the progress made by the Host Organisation of Roverway 2024 and connected with their leadership during the Joint Committee Meeting with our peers from the WAGGGS Europe Committee.
  • Created space for team development time, building on our Team Charter thanks to the support of Sian Bagshaw, Senior Manager, Diversity, Culture and Inclusion.
  • Connected with the National Leadership of the Federeazione Italiana dello Scautismo, joined a local scout group, had a short activity with the cub scouts and exchanged with the Rovers.

As a follow-up to this meeting, we are happy to share the Record of Decisions of our fifth business meeting - #transparency. This record provides a general overview of the outcomes of our meeting. Any additional information can be requested via the Europe Support Centre ([email protected]) or your respective Committee Contact.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming Regional Events.
