Dear friends,
We are pleased to share an update on planning for the 6th World Scout Interreligious Symposium (WSIS) set to take place from 27 October to 1 November 2026 at Centre Le Mistral in Marseille, France. Organised by the Interreligious Forum of World Scouting and hosted by Scouts et Guides de France, the symposium will explore the theme “Education for Peace through Interreligious Dialogue,” reflecting Scouting’s commitment to equipping young people and adults with skills to build bridges across cultures, faiths and beliefs.
The World Scout Interreligious Symposium has been held five times since 2003, offering a global platform for faith representatives, religious educators, and Scout leaders to strengthen spiritual development within Scouting. The 2026 event will deepen interfaith dialogue, strengthen the spiritual dimension of Scouting, and help build a more peaceful future for young people and their communities.
During the Symposium, participants will gain practical tools, strengthen their intercultural and spiritual competencies, build international networks, and return to their National Scout Organizations (NSOs) with knowledge and insights to support programme development and training.
Marseille provides a unique setting for this year’s gathering. As a crossroads of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the city hosts diverse religious and cultural communities engaged in ongoing interfaith cooperation. Participation is open to individuals interested in spiritual development and interreligious dialogue, and NSOs are encouraged to nominate faith representatives and Scout leaders involved in youth programme development. The participation fee is EUR 300, and visa support will be provided upon request. Registration will open soon, with further communication to follow.
To learn about the event, please visit the Symposium page on Treehouse, or contact World Scout Committee member Steve Kent by email at [email protected] for more details.
Yours in Scouting,
David Berg
