GLB-C33-2024
Looking ahead to the next triennium, World Scouting is inviting volunteers from around the world to support the implementation of the next World Triennial Plan 2024-2027 and advance our work towards achieving our new Strategy for Scouting.
By volunteering for World Scouting, young people and adults have an opportunity to contribute their knowledge, expertise, and ideas to shape the future of the world’s leading educational youth movement. Volunteers also get the chance to develop professionally, meet new friends from across Scouting, gain international experience in a multicultural environment, and have fun as members of a global team.
We are pleased to announce that volunteers over the age of 18 who are members of a National Scout Organization (NSO) can now apply through the open call. Interested volunteers must submit their application before the deadline of 30 October 2024 through World Scouting’s volunteer hub.
This year, we have introduced a number of new measures to make the process smoother for volunteer applications and NSO endorsements. Here are the steps involved in the endorsement and selection process:
Individual volunteers are invited to submit their application using the new volunteer hub before the deadline of 30 October.
Once a volunteer has submitted their application, the respective NSOs will be notified by email from early September onwards to review and endorse the applicant.
After the endorsement is provided by the NSO, the applicant will then be notified by email to complete their profile on the volunteer hub.
Finally, all endorsed volunteers will be screened by World Scouting’s volunteer management team, and selected volunteers will be invited to join the volunteer pool for the next triennium by the end of the year.
World Scouting’s volunteer pool serves as the source for all volunteer support required for the next triennium. Once added to our global roster, volunteers can then be matched with projects or assignments that support the delivery of the World Triennial Plan 2024-2027. Selected volunteers will also receive specific training and support about volunteering with World Scouting to ensure they have a positive and valuable experience.
NSOs are encouraged to share the open call on their communications channels to help attract new volunteers to World Scouting who reflect the diversity of the Scout Movement and to promote a strong intergenerational, cultural, and gender balance in applications.
To support NSOs to promote the open call to Scouts, and answer any questions, we have also developed a dedicated web page and a series of FAQs for applicants and NSOs, which can be accessed via Treehouse. If you have any further questions regarding the volunteer open call, or wish to receive more information about the endorsement and selection process, please contact Jorge Salas, Manager, Adult and Young Adult Development at the World Scout Bureau at [email protected].
Yours in Scouting,
