Since its introduction in 2020, Vietnam Scouting has made significant progress in exploring, promoting, and integrating key initiatives into the National Youth Programme. In late February, selected coordinators from local units, together with members of the Programme Committee, gathered to explore and discuss the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and educational initiatives from Scouts for SDGs,  aiming to implement them effectively in Vietnam.

Launched at the beginning of February, the program was delivered through both online sessions and an intensive 3-day in-person training. The training program covered a wide range of topics including aspects of youth development, sustainability, and personal growth, with a focus on Scouting's role in promoting global goals and community impact.

During this time, future coordinators engaged in learning and discussions on:

  • Understanding the Sustainable Development Goals and the Scouts for SDGs initiative.
  • Exploring ways to integrate Scouts for SDGs into Vietnam Scouting’s National Youth Programme.
  • Learning and practicing the 10 Principles of Dialogue from the Dialogue for Peace initiative.
  • Gaining environmental knowledge and sustainability practices through experiential learning from Earth Tribe, Plastic Tide Turners, and Scouts Go Solar initiatives.
  • Practicing mental well-being techniques and emotional intelligence development through EQ in Action & Mind Builders.
  • Inspiring and guiding young Scouts to develop their Messenger of Peace projects.
  • Organiszing educational games promoting healthy eating and well-being with Nutrition in Health Allies
  • Learning how to fundraise and manage financial resources using the Scout Donation platform.
  • Enhancing communication skills through The Art of Storytelling training, supported by professional staff from the WSB - Asia Pacific Support Centre.

Alongside the coordinators, young Scouts also received parallel training in SDGs, enhancing their capacity to generate ideas and develop impactful community projects during the 2nd Better World Camp to become the first Vietnamese Scouts to be Messenger of Peace Heroes Award.

Following the camp, these future coordinators will spend the next year implementing initiatives in their local units, expanding the reach of these valuable programs within Vietnam Scouting. This effort aims to transform educational activities, empower young people to become active citizens, contribute positively to their communities, and prepare them for life.
