GLB-C12-2025
Dear friends,
We are pleased to announce that World Scouting is establishing a new network of researchers interested in youth and Scouting education. The purpose of the network is to foster collaboration among academics, practitioners, and data specialists to enhance educational practices and policies in Scouting.
The network will bring together individuals knowledgeable about youth development, non-formal education, and Scouting. It will serve as a platform to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and co-develop research. Coordinated by the World Scout Bureau, the network will remain adaptable to the evolving needs of Scouting education.
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who:
Are actively producing or engaging with research related to youth development, non-formal education, or Scouting.
Have published work or participated in relevant research projects.
Demonstrate a strong interest in applying evidence and insights to strengthen educational practice within Scouting.
As a member of the network, participants will have opportunities to connect with peers, contribute to shared research priorities, and participate in collaborative projects and quarterly knowledge exchanges. Participants will also have access to a growing repository of studies and tools and play a role in shaping research that supports Scouting’s mission and educational goals.
We invite National Scout Organizations to share this opportunity with their networks. Interested individuals should submit their application via the WOSM Volunteer Hub by 15 July 2025. Please note that all applications must be endorsed by the International Commissioner or Official Contact of National Scout Organisation, as recorded in the World Scouting Directory.
For any questions, please contact João Armando P. Gonçalves, Chief Education and Development Officer, with the World Scout Bureau by email at [email protected].
Yours in Scouting,
David Berg
