From 17 to 19 July 2026, Panama City brought together Safe from Harm leads from seven National Scout Organizations across the Caribbean for a Safe from Harm Workshop organised by the Interamerican Scout Region. The Bahamas, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Dominica sent their national Safe from Harm leads to this practical training space focused on strengthening national capacities in child protection and safeguarding.
The workshop combined preparatory virtual sessions, held from early May, with three days of intensive in-person work. Throughout the process, national teams explored the foundations of the Safe from Harm programme, the principles of confidentiality and information management, incident reporting procedures, and the key elements needed to turn national policies into concrete tools for action. Each participant worked on designing activities adapted to their own context to train their teams upon returning home.
This workshop is part of the Region's ongoing commitment to supporting National Scout Organizations in building safe environments for children, young people, and adult volunteers.
