Governance and strategy work hand in hand to guide an organisation towards sustainable success. Together, they provide direction, ensure accountability, and establish a framework for effective decision-making.
While governance defines who makes decisions and how, as well as any supporting systems, strategies define long-term goals and priorities, direct resources to achieve a mission, while balancing the interests of all stakeholders.
This service area supports National Scout Organizations (NSOs) to build strong governance systems and effective strategies at the national board level, develop and implement strategic plans, align their work with World Scoutingβs Strategy for Scouting, and strengthen institutional development through processes. such as drafting and reviewing constitutions.
It also covers essential areas such as monitoring and evaluation, risk management, change management, and financial stewardship, ensuring that NSOs remain resilient, mission-driven, and well-positioned for the future.
