Call for the 2nd Youth Community Projects Expo 2024

The Community Projects Expo is a space where young participants will have the opportunity to share and learn about projects, initiatives, campaigns, and ideas that they are developing in their countries individually or in groups.

When?

The Project Expo will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Panama City time) in virtual mode. This will be a space for collective construction where they can exchange good practices, lessons learned, and experiences, inspire each other, and inspire others.

Who can participate in the Project Expo?

  1. Project leaders: Young Scouts between 18 and 26 years, members of a National Scout Organization of the Interamerican Region.
  2. Visitors: Young Scouts between 18 and 26 years, members of a National Scout Organization of the Interamerican Region, other regions, structures of the Scout Movement, and special guests.

What can we find at the Project Expo?

1. Exhibitions

These will be spaces for young people to share projects that have been carried out or are underway in their localities. This is an opportunity to build networks of support and collaboration and serve as mutual inspiration. Participants will develop public speaking, negotiation, networking, information gathering, interpersonal relationships, and advocacy skills.

How do you exhibit a project during the Expo?

All young people interested in exhibiting their project must register in advance by entering the information about their project using this link. The form requires them to share contact information and information about the project they are leading.

People interested in exhibiting must meet the following characteristics:

  • Be between 18 and 26 years of age at the time of the Expo.
  • Have an active registration with a National Scout Organization of the Interamerican Scout Region.
  • Projects must have been developed in the last 12 months, ongoing, or about to start.
  • The project must have actions under one of the following work areas:
    • Environment & Sustainability: Address specific issues to address climate change, promote sustainable habits towards healthy and eco-friendly lifestyles, and connect with and protect nature through sustainability.
    • Health and well-being: addressing resilience in people for their physical, mental and social well-being.
    • Peace and community engagement: addressing resilient communities and sustainable development through the participation of people in decision-making and conflict resolution processes.
    • Life Skills: Address the development of competencies in young people to prepare them for a productive life.
  • Projects must include service actions with demonstrable impact on the community.

Features of Project Exhibitions:

  • Each project will have a virtual space intended to showcase their project. In this space that functions as a stand, you can make available static information, such as images, videos, and links about your project. This information will be requested in advance.
  • Each exhibition will share its project story live. This will be a time for visitors to tour each booth and interact directly with project leaders.
  • During the live exhibition, they are expected to share their motivation, main objectives, achievements achieved, learnings, and best practices.
  • Each project can be presented live by a maximum of 3 young people registered for the event.
  • Exhibitors must have completed the Safe from Harm virtual course and sent the certificate before the event.
  • Each person may submit a maximum of one (1) project.
  • Project leaders interested in exhibiting must be active members registered with an NSO of the Interamerican Scout Region.

Other opportunities:

People who participate as exhibitors will:

  • Connect with a person who accompanies you during the preparation period to provide advice on the presentation of your project.
  • Access and participate in a network of contacts with other young project leaders in the Interamerican Region.
  • Participate in virtual competency development sessions delivered by leading people in the field: Public speaking, Use of social networks, Crowdfunding, Formulation, and management of budgets.
  • Participate permanently in the gallery of community projects on the Interamerican Scout Foundation's website to access funding.

Complete the registration form before 7 April 2024, 11:59 PM (Panama) to exhibit a project. At the close of registration, projects that meet the characteristics described and have completed registration on time will receive the necessary information to advance in the design of the exhibition, provide complementary information, and participate in preparation meetings prior to the event.

National Scout Organizations will be informed through official contacts about the names of the people registered to exhibit their projects.

2. General Plenary

This will be a space in which young invited project leaders will tell their stories in implementing high community impact projects. It will be a moment of inspiration for the participants.

3. Invited Exhibitions

As part of the experience, other scout and non-scout organizations will participate by showcasing professional, study, and exchange opportunities and events on topics of interest to young people.

How will we connect to the Project Expo?

Spatial Chat will allow us to meet closer and more authentically, making the virtual space a means of interaction. Each participant can tour the exhibitions according to their preferences during the time allotted to that activity.

We hope to make this space a moment full of learning. More information will be provided before the event.

How can you participate by visiting the Project Expo?

Scouts between 18 and 26 years old, members of a National Scout Organization, who are interested in visiting the Project Expo must register in advance at this link to receive a link to access the site by mail. Visitors must complete the Safe from Harm course and provide a certificate prior to the event.

It is important to emphasize that space will be limited, so registration is invited with the commitment to access the site on the day of the event.
