From the World Scout Bureau – Interamerica Support Centre, we are pleased to share the results of the recent Open Call for Volunteers for the 2025–2028 triennium.
The response from across the Region exceeded all expectations: we received 281 applications from 25 NSOs, confirming what we had long believed — there is an incredible amount of talent and willingness to contribute across the Interamerican Region! We are also especially encouraged that 54% of applicants are under 30, reflecting the strong drive of young people ready to lead and contribute.
Behind every application, there are stories, motivations, and a genuine commitment to the Scout Movement. As one candidate shared:
"I want to be part of something bigger, contributing to initiatives that impact multiple countries and realities."
Another put it simply:
"The impact at the regional level is much greater; knowing that you can reach so many more people is incredibly meaningful."
Initially, we planned to grow the team to around 70 volunteers. However, after seeing the strength of the applications, we decided to expand to nearly 90 people from 22 NSOs across the Region — allowing us to welcome more talent and create more opportunities for involvement.
We know it was not possible to select everyone, and we want to be transparent about this: it was a difficult decision. Every application was read carefully and taken seriously, and there are remarkable profiles throughout the Region. To everyone who applied: thank you for taking that step and sharing your story with us. Throughout the triennium, we hope to create more opportunities for you to get involved.
Those selected will begin this new journey with a welcome meeting on 9 May, where they will have the opportunity to meet one another and get an overview of what lies ahead.
Some roles focus on specific areas, while others are involved throughout the full triennium. Together, they will contribute to the journey leading to the 30th Interamerican Scout Conference in Peru in 2028.
For us, this process is much more than a selection: it is a reflection of the commitment, diversity, and strength of our Region.
To those joining today as volunteers: we hope this will be a rewarding experience, filled with learning, connections, and meaningful moments. We are confident that what you build together will leave a lasting mark on Scouting in Interamerica.
This is only the beginning!
