In a significant stride toward strengthening its strategic direction, Nepal Scouts has commenced its National Strategic Planning Workshop from 30 April to 05 May 2025. The workshop marks a critical milestone in the organization's journey to review its 2022–2025 Triennial Plan and formulate a forward-looking plan for 2025–2028, aligned with its Vision 2032 and global strategies set by WOSM and WAGGGS.
The workshop was officially opened on 30 April in the presence of key dignitaries and international Scouting leaders including Mrs. Chempaka Emilin Pehamin, Chair of the Asia-Pacific Region; Mr. Madhusudan Avala, Chair of the APR Strategy Monitoring Task Force; Mr. Devraj Ghimire, Chief Commissioner of Nepal Scouts; and Mr. S. Prassanna Shrivastava, Director of Membership and Capacity Building at WSB/Asia-Pacific Region.
One of the most noteworthy moments of the workshop was the participation of the Chief Scout of Nepal and Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Mr. Tejulal Chaudhary, during a session on the WOSM Strategy. In his inspiring address to the participants, he underscored the importance of drafting a strategic plan that fosters good governance, ensures effective decentralization, and reaches young people at the grassroots level.
"As Chief Scout, I urge all of you to carefully shape a plan that will translate into action and impact. Scouting must be felt at every level," he said.
Speaking in his capacity as Minister of Youth and Sports, he reaffirmed the Government of Nepal’s commitment to supporting youth development through Scouting, noting that existing funding would continue and could expand based on Nepal Scouts’ performance. He also emphasized the need for unity among Scout leaders, encouraging them to stay focused on the movement’s mission.
In his conversation with representatives from WOSM and WAGGGS, the Chief Scout expressed his aspiration to see Scouting expanded to at least 100 new municipal councils within the year and envisioned its operation across all 752 municipalities in Nepal within the next three years.
The workshop is being facilitated by Mr. S. Prassanna Shrivastava and Mr. Madhusudan Avala, with active support from WAGGGS and the Nepal Scouts Team. Participants are engaged in reviewing past achievements, identifying strategic priorities, and crafting an actionable and measurable plan that aligns with both national needs and international frameworks.
As the workshop progresses, it continues to embody the spirit of collaboration, forward-thinking, and dedication to the movement’s growth and impact. The outcomes of this workshop are expected to shape the future of Scouting in Nepal, bringing it closer to its Vision 2032 and enabling more young people to benefit from the values and experiences Scouting offers.
