The Interamerican Scout Office carried out a visit to the National Scout Organisation of Barbados to facilitate a capacity‑building workshop for adult leaders, as part of the project “A Greener Barbados: Scouts for Sustainability” (Green Skills). This environmental initiative, currently being implemented by the organisation, has enabled the collection of more than 1,236 kilograms of waste, the distribution of 782 sustainable gardening kits, and has benefited over 7,400 people in local communities.

During the visit, the team delivered a capacity‑building process for adult leaders on the Youth Programme, focusing on strengthening it through Scouts for SDGs and implementing the Champions for Nature Challenge. The agenda included training sessions on education for sustainable development, the role of the educational programme in community action, and practical sessions to enable participants to plan the national implementation of the Challenge, including the use of the Scouts for SDGs Hub to showcase and report on the impact of youth-led actions.

The meeting enabled the advancement of a concrete roadmap for implementing environmental initiatives, strengthened the role of adult leaders as facilitators of youth learning, and reaffirmed the National Scout Organisation’s commitment to supporting young people as agents of change in their communities.
