With a shared commitment to expanding the reach of Scouting across the region, the Asia-Pacific Region officially opened the APR National Scout Organizations (NSO) Membership Growth Coordinators Meet on 1 July 2026 in Brunei Darussalam.

The five-day meeting brings together Membership Growth Coordinators from NSOs across the Asia-Pacific to exchange experiences, strengthen regional collaboration, and explore practical strategies for sustainable membership growth.

As the designated focal points for membership growth within their respective NSOs, these coordinators play a vital role in ensuring that more young people have access to quality Scouting.

Home to more than 38.5 million Scouts across 33 National Scout Organizations, the Asia-Pacific remains the world’s largest Scout Region and as membership continues to grow, the Region remains committed to supporting NSOs in reaching underserved communities while strengthening the quality, relevance, and sustainability of Scouting programmes.

The meeting brings together representatives from 14 National Scout Organizations: Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Scouts of China (Taiwan), Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

The opening ceremony was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. Hajah Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam, whose presence underscored the importance of youth development and regional cooperation through Scouting.

In his opening remarks, Meet Director Skipper Mohammad Hatta bin Haji Suhaili welcomed participants and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity to build meaningful connections, openly share experiences, and co-create practical approaches that can strengthen membership growth within their respective National Scout Organizations.

The APR NSO Membership Growth Coordinators Meet reflects the Asia-Pacific Region’s continued commitment to empowering National Scout Organizations and advancing its shared vision of making the benefits of Scouting accessible to even more young people across the region.
