The Asia-Pacific Region (APR) conducted the second session of its five-part learning series for National Programme Commissioners (NPCs), full time staff, and volunteers involved in Youth Programme delivery.
The webinar, with a focus on Scouts for Sustainable Development Goals (Scouts4SDGs) and its integration into National Scout Organisation’s (NSO) Youth Programmes, brought together more than 100 participants representing 16 NSOs from across the Region.
Building on this discussion, NSOs shared their best practices in implementing World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)initiatives that demonstrate how global initiatives can be adapted to local context to create meaningful learning experiences for young people. The NSOs that shared their best pratices are - National Scout Organizion of Thailand’s Scouts Go Solar, Bharat Scouts abd Guides (India)Plastic Tide Turners, and Nepal Scouts HealthAllies
The inaugural session of the series introduced the EarthTribe and HealthAllies initiatives, laying the foundation for deeper discussions on sustainability and social impact but as part of the broader five-part learning series, future sessions will continue to address identified topics by participants such as the Youth Programme Framework and Practical Programme Implementation, while promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical learning among NSOs.
Together, these efforts aim to empower young people to become active global citizens and contributors to sustainable and resilient communities and will eventually culminate in the Asia-Pacific Workshop on Scouts for SDGs: Empowering NSOs through Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), in Hong Kong on September 2026 where NSOs will further explore the integration of sustainable development into their Youth Programmes and develop national-level action plans for implementation.
