Greetings from the Asia- Pacific Support Centre!
As we continue to contribute to strengthen Good Governance of our member National Scout Organizations, the NSO Benchmarking standard was introduced in 2012. This was further developed, aligning the Scouting specific, customizing GSAT Standard version 1.1 in 2013. During its course, NSOs supported the process of assessing their capacity against international best practices in good governance and quality Scouting. The GSAT Standard continued to be further reviewed and developed introducing the versions 1.2 in 2014, version 2 in May 2017.
Now the GSAT 3.0, launched in June 2023, aiming to take Scouting to new heights, highlights the following:
1. Amplify youth voices
2. Greater Youth Empowerment
3. Champion sustainability
4. Safety first
5. Drive Growth
The NSOs that underwent the GSAT had very encouraging experience reports on NSOs moves towards establishing Good Governance. 72% or total of 23 NSOs have undertaken assessment at least once, and 7 NSOs who have gone through it for the 2nd time.
The GSAT Assessment is valid for three years, and we need to re-assess the standard as part of the continuous improvement. We believe that you will not wait too long to assess your areas of improvement, to provide better services to our members and be one of the NSOs listed on the certified NSOs maintaining the desired standard. We would like to invite NSOs in the region:
1. Who have undergone the assessment before August 2021
2. Who have not yet undergone any assessment as of now
