On 30 May, the presidents of the governing bodies of National Scout Organizations (NSOs) across the region came together for a landmark meeting — the first gathering dedicated exclusively to this level of leadership. The space allowed participants to connect, identify shared governance challenges, and exchange experiences in addressing them. Representatives from approximately one third of the region's NSOs took part in the exchange.
Participants also highlighted which types of support would be most useful in strengthening their roles. Volunteering and fundraising emerged as two of the most relevant topics — areas where governing bodies play a key part. The presidents agreed to continue meeting and expressed interest in future sessions focused on training, capacity building, and sharing good practices.
The insights gathered will shape the next joint working spaces. At least one more meeting is planned for the year, with a focus on governance and Safe from Harm from a leadership perspective, aiming to equip presidents with concrete tools to navigate the challenges their organisations face.
