In May, 25 volunteers from across the Africa, Arab, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Interamerica Scout Regions gathered in Istanbul for World Scouting’s first consultancy skills training of the year. Coming from different cultures, languages, and Scouting backgrounds, they shared one goal: learning how to better support National Scout Organizations (NSOs) through WOSM Services.
Held from 6 to 10 May, the training combined ten hours of online learning with 30 hours of in-person sessions. Participants explored practical consultancy skills, including coaching, change management, motivational interviewing, and understanding cultural and organisational contexts.
“The Consultancy Skills Training was a milestone in my journey as a Scout volunteer. I now feel prepared to begin contributing on a global level” - Leonardo Furtado Vieira, Youth Programme Consultant, Brazil.

WOSM consultants are experienced Scout professionals, selected for their expertise in areas such as governance, humanitarian action, Safe from Harm, youth programme, communications, and Adults in Scouting.
When an NSO requests a WOSM Service, consultants work directly with local leadership teams to provide tailored support and help create sustainable change.
This new group joins a global network of more than 300 volunteer consultants. Since 2018, WOSM Services has supported over 80% of our members with 1000+ delivered services and 700+ quality resources.
The consultancy skills training also contributes directly to the Strategy for Scouting and the World Triennial Plan, helping strengthen Scouting worldwide through measurable support for NSOs.
A second round of training is due to take place later this year, welcoming even more consultants into this growing global network.
As more organisations access WOSM Services, more young people around the world will benefit from stronger, more impactful Scouting experiences.
