Three incredible Scout leaders have been awarded the Bronze Wolf, Scouting’s highest award bestowed by the World Scouting Committee, for their service to the Movement at the Regional and World levels.

Bronze Wolf Recipient: Mohammed Ali Khalid (India)

Mohammed Ali Khalid has been awarded the Bronze Wolf award for his exceptional dedication and contributions to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR), India’s Bharat Scouts and Guides Association (BSG), and to the Scout Movement at large.

Khalid’s unwavering dedication to the Movement has been evident at all levels and in his various roles on regional and global committees and task forces. In addition to being a WOSM GSAT Facilitator, Khalid actively supported WOSM’s Registration Fees and Voting System Task Force and made significant contributions to its recommendations for the new fee system, which will be presented at the 43rd World Scout Conference in August 2024. He also chaired the host Executive Committee for the second World Scout Seminar on Partnership, which lead to the development of the Marrakech Charter - Bangalore edition, a milestone document that would later become a key reference for WOSM’s Communications and External Relations strategy. Khalid's influence extends beyond borders with nearly three decades of commitment to spearheading regional growth and the development of Scouting in the Asia Pacific region.

Notably, Khalid served as Member and Vice Chairperson of the APR Scout Committee from 2007-2009, playing a pivotal role in strengthening and consolidating regional Scouting and aligning with the global World Scouting strategies. For five years, he was part of the APR Awards Committee as both a member and then Chairman, substantially impacting the revision and improvement of regional awards.

For over 24 years, Khalid has been an outstanding national volunteer, fostering relationships and forging partnerships across the Movement. He has represented BSG at every World Scout Conference and Asia Pacific Conferences since the mid-1990s, and has also played a pivotal role in hosting numerous regional events and national jamborees in India. He has fostered interregional connections through his involvement with entities such as Friends of Scouting in the European Scout Foundation, Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS, and the Africa Scout Foundation.

Khalid's dedication to the Scout Movement continues unabated, as evidenced by his ongoing involvement in global initiatives such as the Youth Engagement Task Force and his longstanding membership in the APR Scout Foundation. He has been the recipient of numerous national, regional, and global awards in recognition of his continued commitment to volunteering and the advancement of Scouting.

His active participation in world events, including Jamborees, Moots, World and Regional Scout Conferences since 1990, has played a key role in shaping the future of Scouting on a global scale. At last year’s 4th World Scout Education Congress, has was instrumental as an organiser, facilitator, and lead in the reporting team that developed the Roadmap for Education in Scouting.

Saâd's role as Director of Adult Resources and Volunteer Development at the World Scout Bureau has had significant impact on the development of Scouting as a whole. Among the highlights were his contributions to the launch of the Global Support approach, Scoutship, a review of the current Adults in Scouting policy and Wood Badge Training, and his role in empowering volunteers. Most recently, his global vision for Scouting provided valuable insight as a member of the research group for the new Strategy for Scouting in 2023.

In his early Scouting years, Saâd contributed to the development of educational content and national training courses at Scouts de France, and played a crucial role in expanding Scouting to Muslim youth in France. His national efforts and partnership developments not only kept Scouting relevant in the country, but it also served as a model for other Scouting organisations around the world through partnership programmes.

Today, Saâd stands as an honorary member of both Scouts Musulmans de France and Scouts et Guides de France, and a holder of the EEDF Medal for his invaluable contributions. Saâd's career is exceptional, embodying a lifetime of dedication, leadership and impact within Scouting.
