World Scouting and the World Scout Foundation are pleased to announce the 2026 open call for the Messengers of Peace Fund. The Fund supports National Scout Organizations (NSOs) to build organisational capacity and strengthen communities through high-impact projects focused on peace and sustainable development.
The 2026 open call, totalling USD 1.4 million, will support a wide range of Scouting projects, including those that address climate change, restore biodiversity, promote peacebuilding and intercultural dialogue, and enhance youth leadership. Funding can also support the growth and development of NSOs through projects related to good governance, GSAT, Youth Programme, Safe from Harm, and volunteering.
In particular, we are looking for proposals that lead to sustained initiatives and measurable impact. These may include initiatives that go beyond one-off events and workshops.
NSOs in good standing with World Scouting, including compliance with safeguarding requirements, are eligible to apply. National Scout Associations (NSAs) can apply with the agreement of their NSO Federation.
Proposals must be submitted through Fluxx, World Scouting’s online grant management system, by 15 September 2026. Early submissions are encouraged. Following the review and selection process, successful NSOs will be informed in October 2026. Grant disbursement is subject to receipt of funds from the donor. Projects should therefore not commence before November 2026.
Before starting your application, we encourage interested NSOs to:
Check your eligibility and access to Fluxx;
Review the evaluation criteria for proposal submissions; and
Register to attend informative sessions between 20–23 August covering the open call’s focus, donor requirements, indicators, and project planning.
Applications will be assessed against several criteria, including alignment with the objectives of the Messengers of Peace Fund; number and range of beneficiaries, including the wider community; the use of innovative approaches and digital tools; and a clear plan for donor recognition and visibility. The scoring and evaluation of the projects is done by the Regional Decision Committees. Final approval is provided by the Joint Executive Committee and the donor.
All grants will follow a standardised quality assurance process to support transparent and accountable implementation and measurable impact.
The first open call, done in 2025, received 84 applications from all five Scout regions, resulting in 35 projects receiving funding. Building on this foundation, the second open call introduces a strengthened framework, updated guidance, and expanded support for applicants.
The Messengers of Peace Fund is made possible by the generous support and partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which, in 2025, renewed its commitment of USD 50 million over 10 years through the World Scout Foundation to increase the impact of Scouting worldwide. Since 2010, support through the fund has empowered millions of Scouts to take action and contribute nearly 3 billion hours of community service towards peace and sustainability.
