Circular No. IAR-C32-2023-EN:
Appointment of Diana Carrillo as Regional Director, Interamerica Support Centre

Dear friends in Scouting,

I am pleased to inform you that the recruitment process for the role of Regional Director of the Interamerica Regional Support Centre has concluded in which we saw more than 50 applicants stepping forward. Following a unanimous recommendation of the panel (consisting of members of the Regional Committee, members of the World Scout Bureau Senior Management Team and myself), and with the approval of the Regional Committee, I have appointed Diana Carrillo from Mexico to the role.

Diana has studied International Relations and built up an important experience in team leadership and project management within the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Mexico, where she currently leads their youth area team and is responsible for the planning and implementation of UNFPA’s country programmes for youth. She previously worked in her local municipality as a programme officer where she implemented innovation and entrepreneurial projects for young people. She also brings experience from the private sector working with multiple stakeholders in consulting projects.

Diana is well known to the Scout Movement, with solid experience in Scouting at local, National, Regional and World levels. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the National Board of our NSO in Mexico, is a WOSM Consultant in Good Governance, and was a Youth Advisor to the World Scout Committee. In that capacity she was the Chairperson of the 2021 World Scout Youth Forum and instrumental in the work undertaken to evolve the Youth Forum and Conference to a new inclusive and youth-empowering event. She was also a key member of the planning team for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree and at the Regional level supported the design of the current Regional Plan.

I am confident that Diana will bring, through the combination of her professional background and Scouting experience, new ideas and innovative leadership to the team, building on the strong foundations laid by Raúl, to whom I am very grateful for his leadership to the team and many achievements in supporting the region. Diana will officially start in mid-January 2024 in Panama, with a handover envisioned between Raúl and herself in the coming period.

Please join me in welcoming Diana ([email protected]) as the new Regional Director of the Interamerica Scout Region!
