CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTION OF YOUTH ADVISORS TO THE AFRICA SCOUT COMMITTEE
Further to Circular ASR-AFR-C02-2025 (Invitation to the 10th Africa Scout Youth Forum and 19th Africa Scout Conference), we are pleased to share the Youth Forum Guidelines and the call for nominations of candidates for election of Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee.
The Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee consist of six youth elected at the respective Africa Scout Youth Forum for a non-renewable term of three years. Therefore, member NSOs are hereby invited to nominate candidates to be elected at the 10th Africa Scout Youth Forum in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
To nominate a candidate for the Youth Advisors to Africa Scout Committee, both the nominating NSO and the nominee must complete the enclosed nomination form and submit to the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre at [email protected], no later than 15th July 2025. Only application submitted within this timeframe will be considered.
Nominating NSOs are required to carefully review all considerations in this Call for Candidates with a particular attention to the Role Description for Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee.
Requirements
• Nominees should meet the requirements outlined in the attached Youth Forum Guidelines (10ASYFDoc2).
• Nominations should be submitted by National Scout Organization that is in good standing with WOSM.
• All candidates must familiarise themselves with and abide by the WOSM Code of Conduct for Elections (CoCE) when promoting their candidature.
• All candidates will be requested to complete the training on the Code of Conduct for Elections and Safe from Harm Training 2 for WOSM Volunteers and Staff (nomination form must be submitted together with the candidate Safe from Harm certificate).
Process
• Nominations will be acknowledged upon receipt by the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre but only qualified candidates with be retained.
• A Youth Forum Document providing the candidates overview will be released to all National Scout Organizations no later than 30th July 2025.
Support
• The Africa Scout Committee has taken steps to enhance the candidate experience and increase diversity and engagement in decision-making, with Member NSOs playing a key role. Preengagement sessions have been planned to equip them with the knowledge of the duties and expectations of serving as Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee.
• This will also support NSOs in carefully considering all relevant factors before making their selection.
• The induction of the Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee will be scheduled later in 2025.
We take this opportunity to emphasise the need and the importance of nominating candidates who will be able to contribute effectively to the work of the Region and reflect the diversity of the Region.
