GLB-C04-2023

I am pleased to share that WOSM’s Annual Report 2021-2022 and Consolidated Audited Financial Statement 2021-2022 are now available online. The report highlights inspiring stories, achievements, and impact from across the Scout Movement covering the period from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022.

This past year saw the strong resurgence of Scouting on a scale not seen since before the COVID-19 pandemic with Scouts coming together in person for national camps, Jamborees, and Regional events.

Together with volunteers, we have been hard at work implementing our World Triennial Plan and Regional Plans, focusing on the delivery of WOSM Services and supporting National Scout Organizations (NSOs) to recover from the pandemic's impacts, adopt national growth strategies, modernise their educational youth programmes, and improve their financial resilience.

We also made Safe from Harm a top priority by supporting NSOs to work towards making Scouting safer for young people and adult leaders, and made great strides in growing our Movement by welcoming the Antigua and Barbuda Scout Association as our 173rd Member Organization.

Under the banner of Scouts for SDGs, we continued to support NSOs to implement our Messengers of Peace and Earth Tribe initiatives and began work on two new educational initiatives focused on health and well-being and life skills as opportunities to complement the Youth Programmes of NSOs.

In the area of advocacy, we mobilised our network of Youth Representatives who were active in advocating for quality education and climate action through their participation in the United Nations General Assembly, Transforming Education Summit, and UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).

Finally, WOSM launched a global youth consultation to develop a new forward-looking Strategy for Scouting beyond Vision 2023, taking into account the trends, opportunities, and challenges facing young people today.

Looking at the financial outlook for the World Scout Bureau, we continue to exercise a prudent approach to financial management as outlined in the Consolidated Audited Financial Statements, while exploring new opportunities for business development and resource mobilisation in collaboration with the World Scout Foundation.

We encourage NSO leadership to read WOSM’s Annual Report 2021-2022 and share the global impact of our work with your key stakeholders. If you have any questions about the annual report or consolidated financial statements, please contact David Venn, Global Director, Communications at [email protected] or Soon San Ooi, Global Director, Corporate Services at [email protected]

Yours in Scouting,
