Nepal Scouts achieved more than 100,000 young people and leaders in membership this month, becoming one of the fastest-growing National Scout Organizations in the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).

Achieving around 60,000 members back in 2020 through their growth vision, they managed to fulfil 70,000 members in 2022. To achieve more, they had a WOSM Service for Growth at Kakani International Scouts Centre. This Service is a resounding success as they have made their National Growth Strategy.

Strategising growth

This National Growth Strategy invested in people who advocated for Scouting within the seven provinces of Nepal. Each province had membership targets that they achieve annually for the next 10 years, coming from the overall goal of Nepal Scouts to achieve 700,000 young members that are actively involved in their communities through Scouting by 2032.

Systematic Registration

Aside from this Strategy, Nepal Scouts also implemented an Online Member Registration System where Scout leaders register the Scout Units they manage, get a Scout membership number, and renew their membership annually. Currently, the system is in its early stages which they are trying to promote to local Scout leaders and groups to help in reflecting the data from the ground.

WOSM Services

Our WOSM Services had helped our National Scout Organizations tremendously in terms of Growth. Last 2020, The Bharat Scouts and Guides successfully recruited 185,492 Scouts in over 10,000 Scout units spread across their country. This was made successful despite challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sri Lanka Scout Association came strong from the pandemic as well, recovering to an all-time high membership of over 100,000 Scouts and leaders last July 2023 through dedicated volunteers and resources from the service platform.
