The World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) held its 10th General Assembly in Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do Province in the Republic of Korea from 31 October to 3 November 2022. The assembly appointed Congressman Dale B. Corvera of the 2nd District of Agusan Del Norte, Member of the Parliament of the 19th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines as member of the Executive Committee of WSPU for the term 2022 to 2025.

WSPU is an independent association which unites Scout-oriented parliamentarians from all over the world and bring them into closer contact with the World Scout Movement (WSPU Constitution, Articles 1-2).

The main purpose of the WSPU is to strengthen National Scout Organizations at national level and support world Scouting at international level through the work of parliamentarians. It also aims to encourage the establishment of the National Scout Parliamentary Associations (NSPA) under the parliamentary framework, with a firm belief in the effectiveness of non-formal education.

With the increasing number of parliaments establishing the NSPAs to support Scouting initiatives and legislation relating to the youth, WSPU intends to provide the Scout Movement with access to law-makers involved in empowering the youth and solving problems for them as well as the communities in which they live.

The 10th General Assembly is one important milestone and a unique place to exchange ideas and best practices for better Scouting as it celebrates WSPU’s 30th founding anniversary this year.

Joining Congressman Dale Corvera in the General Assembly are Philippine Congressman Jose Manuel Alba of Bukidnon and Congressman Peter B. Miguel of South Cotabato. Asia-Pacific Regional Director JR Pangilinan joined the team as technical adviser.
