Scouting and Humanitarian Action
As Scouts, we make a commitment to serve our community, and this commitment does not stop when disaster strikes. Scouts play a vital role in strengthening the resilience of local communities, and providing relief efforts, both in natural hazard-driven and conflict-driven disasters. Humanitarian values are an integral part of Scouting values and this is why Scouts are often on the frontline when disasters hit.
Services in this area will enable you to incorporate elements of humanitarian action into your National Scout Organization’s work though the four areas of the disaster cycle: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. There is also support for National Scout Organizations and Scouts looking to implement the Scout Programme in humanitarian settings, for example with young people who living in refugee camps or areas affected by disasters. Support young people who are part of forcibly displaced people living in humanitarian settings.
