The purpose of the annual Africa Scout Day is to celebrate the Scout Movement’s contribution to the development of Africa (its young people, adults, and communities). Each NSOs is usually encouraged to in-country celebratory activities during the Africa Scout Week while the main celebrations are be organized by the region and hosted in a particular country with participation from NSOs and partners in the region and beyond. 
 

ABOUT THE EVENT

Event: Africa Scout Day Celebrations
Dates: 13 – 17 March 2024 (including arrivals and departures). Africa Scout Week will run from 11 – 17 March 2024.
Venue: Ecole Technique Secondaire, Bujumbura, Burundi
Theme: Embrace, Engage, Elevate.
Participation Fees: International participants will pay sixty Dollars (USD 60)
Accommodation will be in tents so please bring your own camping gear.

The event is being organized by the Africa Scout Region and will be hosted by Association des Scouts du Burundi with support from the Government of Burundi and other local and international partners of Scouting. 

 

REGISTRATION

Those interested to take part in this celebration should duly complete the attached Intent of Participation Form and return to the Burundi Scouts Association’s via email to [email protected] with a copy to [email protected] and to the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre ([email protected]) by 28 February 2024.

STORYTELLING CHALLENGE

We invite all Scouts from across the Africa Scout Region to send their submissions for the 2024 Africa Scout Day Storytelling Challenge. The submissions must be in video format and on the theme of "Embrace, Engage, Elevate". Be sure to capture real examples of how Scouting in your local community is embracing diversity, engaging communities, and elevating voices for meaningful and lasting change. The video should not exceed 90 seconds long and MUST begin with a self- introduction indicating your name, age, and name of your NSO. Submissions can be in English, French. or Portuguese. 

All video entries must be submitted on this Dropbox folder https://www.dropbox.com/request/biw1CZFcZC2uTelk9JD3 by Friday, 8 March 2024. We will select and publish the best submissions as video stories and reels on our social media platforms.
